Opening Keynote – An Overview of the Government’s 8-Year Strategy Plan

Delivered by Government Chief Property Officer, Mark Chivers, the key question he’ll be addressing is: “What are we doing from 2022-2030 to change the public sector?”

Achieving the Strategy Plan Through Professional Excellence

Government Head of Property Profession, Dr Janet Young, will discuss how property professionals can effectively deliver the government’s 8-year strategy plan to achieve a “smaller, better and greener estate”. She’ll focus on skills and professional development within property teams while explaining how intelligent data analysis can underpin strategic property decisions.

Assessing Facilities Management in a Post Pandemic World

A panel discussion involving DWP Director of Estates, Craig Varian, Tim Warneford of Warneford Consulting, and Angela Harrowing, the Deputy Director of Property Programmes at the Cabinet Office.

The panel will discuss how to improve energy efficiency while managing maintenance costs, as well as how maintenance backlogs must be addressed to improve efficiency, productivity and safety.

Discussing the Shift From Portfolio Planning to Place Planning

The closing panel discussion involves Homes England Director, Danielle Gillepsie, London Borough of Sutton’s Head of Asset Management, Christopher Rhodes, Department for Levelling Up’s Chief Planner, Joanna Averley, and London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s Head of Development, Peter Cook.

The panel will explore what is needed to move away from planning via budgets to planning via regional needs, and how we might make decisions with the specific requirements of people and places in mind.
